With support from Presbyterians Sharing, Action Réfugiés Montréal provides hope and assistance to refugees through social programming, sponsorship, and raising awareness of refugee rights. The organization operates the popular “Twinning Program,” which pairs newly arrived refugee women with women already residing in Montreal. Through frequent meetings and group activities, these “twins” forge bonds of friendship and solidarity. The program plays a crucial role in mitigating isolation and addressing barriers that these women encounter in their daily lives.

The Compass Food Bank
 The Compass Update.png

The Compass is a food bank and outreach centre located and serving Mississauga South. It was established by partnering Christian churches in the Clarkson-Lorne Park-Port Credit area. As a member church, St. Andrew’s donates financially, collects food for donation, and participates in other ways to support the work of the Compass.

The Compass provides a safe and welcoming place for people to come to for help. The Compass offers immediate assistance with food, then works with clients offering practical and spiritual support to the challenges that often come along with a low income.

The Compass has now moved to its new location at 427 Lakeshore Road E., Mississauga.

Evangel Hall Mission
Evangel Hall Mission Update-3.png

Evangel Hall Mission is a community service agency that was founded in 1913 by the Presbyterian Church in Canada. For over a century, it has supported individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, and social isolation in Toronto. Evangel Hall is a safe haven where people living with mental and physical health challenges, fighting addictions, and fleeing abuse can take a rest from their burdens and access supports. The Mission’s services address the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional aspects of well-being and are available to anyone in need of support.

St. Andrew’s supports the work of the Mission with monthly donations of sandwiches, baked goods, fruit, personal and feminine hygiene products, socks and new or gently used clothing.

Evangel Hall Sandwich Delivery

Next Drop-off Date:
Thursday, December 12 at St. Andrew's Stavebank door
    8:30am - 9:30am.

In addition to sandwiches, we deliver donations of fresh fruit,  baked goods, toiletries, and new or gently used clothing.

On the second Thursday of every month, we deliver loaves of sandwiches to Evangel Hall Mission in Toronto. Participation is easy! All you have to do is:

1. Get a loaf of bread or two from the grocery store, make it into sandwiches, and wrap each sandwich in plastic wrap or put it into an individual sandwich baggie.

(Don’t cut the sandwiches,

and no peanut butter, please!)

2. Put the wrapped sandwiches

into the bag the bread came in.

3. Reattach the bag clip, and label

the bag with the type of sandwiches

you’ve put inside.

4. Drop your loaves of sandwiches off

at our Stavebank door between 8:30am - 9:30am on the Thursday of our delivery.

That’s it! Your sandwiches will provide much needed nourishment to some of Toronto’s most vulnerable people.

Israeli-Palestinian Conflict -2.png
A Prayer for Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

God of truth, mercy and peace,
God of life and of reconciliation,
we mourn the suffering and murder of your people
and we pray a just peace
and reconciliation for the people of Palestine and Israel
who have endured the burden of violence and conflict for so long.

Console those who grieve,
heal the injured,
comfort those who are alone and afraid,
protect those who held hostage, and
restrain those who would cause more violence
or act cynically for political gain and power.

Let wisdom settle on your churches
and on the governments and leaders of this world
so that justice is sought,
reconciliation found,
peace established and
security provided for all.

In the name of Jesus we pray.
Amen.

PWS&D provides humanitarian response to assist with shelter, food, livelihoods, emergency health, psychosocial and mental health support, as well as cash assistance to allow people to purchase the goods they require.

Donations made to PWS&D are eligible to be matched by the Government of Canada through the Humanitarian Coalition's Gaza Emergency appeal. Donations made between October 7 and November 12 will be matched, up to a total of $10 million.

Through our membership in Canadian Foodgrains Bank, PWS&D is part of the Humanitarian Coalition's Gaza Humanitarian Emergency appeal.

Prayers and Support for Ukraine

ACT Alliance Statement on Ukraine

Untitled 3.png

Loving God,
We pray for the people of Ukraine,
for all those suffering or afraid,
that you will be close to them and protect them.

We pray for world leaders,
for compassion, strength and wisdom to guide their choices.

We pray for the world
that in this moment of crisis,
we may reach out in solidarity
to our brothers and sisters in need.

May we walk in your ways
so that peace and justice
become a reality for the people of Ukraine
and for all the world.

Amen.

Daily Prayers

Thursday, November 14

We pray for the Rev. Sumarme Goble, Chaplain at St. Andrew’s Hall, who cares for students and represents the PCC as part of the UBC Multi-Faith Chaplaincy team.

Friday, November 15

We pray for the Sabeel Liberation Theology Center as it hosts the “Challenging Religious Extremism” conference in Bethlehem and Jerusalem amid rising intolerance and violence in the Middle East.

Saturday, November 16

We pray for Atlantic Mission Society groups as they encourage congregations to support the Advent gift projects.

Sunday, November 17 (Legacy Giving Sunday)

We pray for all the people in congregations who leave a legacy gift—a bequest, a charitable gift annuity, a gift of life insurance—so that we may have vibrant ministry, today and tomorrow.

Monday, November 18 (Restorative Justice Week, Nov. 17-23)

We give thanks for the Church Council on Justice and Corrections, and its work to support healing for people and communities harmed by crime, fear and system injustices.

Tuesday, November 19

We pray for those who lack access to proper sanitation and for PWS&D programs that are working to provide water, sanitation and hygiene measures.

Wednesday, November 20 (Trans Day of Remembrance)

We remember those who have died because of transphobic violence. We lament the church’s role in contributing to prejudice and hatred of transgender people and commit to working for a future where trans people can flourish.

Thursday, November 21

We pray for chaplains in hospitals and long-term care homes as they continue to provide comfort, offer hope, and minister during moments that matter.

Friday, November 22

We pray for the four Women’s Missionary Society members travelling to Nepal to learn about the work it supports there.

Saturday, November 23

We pray for PCC staff and committees who help and walk with the leaders of the Indigenous ministries of the PCC.
